Take bookings and messages at the front desk
You are a learner on placement at the front desk.
What has happened
It is Wednesday afternoon and you are on the front desk with Mei Lin Chen. Two people come in to book rooms: Bec Andrews from the Frankston Playgroup Network wants learning room 2 on Wednesday 16 September from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for 18 people with an urn and mats, and Fatima Noor from the Multicultural Women's Sewing Circle wants the hall on Saturday 19 September from 10:00 am for 14 people with tables and power boards. While Mei Lin is helping a visitor with printing, the phone rings twice: one caller wants to leave a message for Amrit Gill and another asks what time the op shop opens. A visitor also needs to sign the visitor book to see Wayne.
Deliverables
- Two bookings created in the Room and Program Bookings system with status Requested
- Written phone message for Amrit Gill

Evidence guide
Look for the learner checking the system before agreeing to a booking, entering every required field correctly, using the greeting on the phone and writing a message that another person can act on. Times must be written correctly. Spoken interactions must be polite and clear, and the learner must know when to pass something to the coordinator rather than decide alone.
