The situation

What has happened

It is Thursday afternoon and it is your turn to do the weekly stock count and prepare Friday's order. The cafe has a par level for every item on the Cafe Stock Count and Order Sheet, and the order is worked out by taking what is on hand away from the par level and rounding up to the supplier's pack size. Next Tuesday the cafe is hosting the Peninsula Seniors morning tea with about 40 extra guests, and Rosa has written the extras on the whiteboard: 12 litres of milk and 48 muffins. Last week's order total was $412. Josh has asked you to show your working if the total looks very different.

Your brief. Complete an accurate stock count, use the par levels and the extras to work out the order quantities in whole packs, cost the order and compare it with last week, enter the order lines in the daily log and hand the sheet to Rosa for checking before 4:00 pm.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Check the count is in the correct units, the subtraction and rounding are correct for every line, the extras have been added, and the percentage comparison with last week is right. The sheet must be complete and legible. Look for the learner explaining the method and the reason for the higher total in their own words, and for the daily log entries matching the sheet.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
